DUI and Driver’s License Issues
A DUI allegation may involve both a criminal court case and a separate driver’s license process. I review the reason given for the stop, officer observations, video, field evaluations, chemical-testing or refusal paperwork, citations, temporary permits, and other forms the driver received. I also ask about the driver’s license state, any commercial license, and any prior matter that may be relevant to the current paperwork.
Some documents may contain time-sensitive instructions. I do not rely on a general website statement to determine the deadline in a particular case. Keep every page, identify each date clearly, and follow the instructions on current court and license documents until I can review them. After examining the material, I explain which issues belong to the court case, which involve the license process, and what practical decisions may need attention.
Georgia Administrative License Suspension Deadline
A DUI arrest may begin a separate administrative driver’s license process in addition to the criminal case. Under the current Georgia Department of Driver Services rule, an appeal under O.C.G.A. § 40-5-67.1 is timely if it is received or postmarked within 30 calendar days of the issuance or service date of the DDS 1205 or 1205S notice.
The administrative license matter is separate from the criminal DUI case. The correct response depends on the license, paperwork, testing or refusal allegation, driving history, and other facts.

Georgia Traffic Tickets
A traffic matter can involve more than the amount printed on a citation. I begin with the exact charge, the alleged speed or conduct, the issuing agency, the court, the court date, the license state, the driving history, and whether the driver holds a CDL. I also need to know whether the event involved an accident, an arrest, a suspended license, or more than one citation.
Court procedures and appearance requirements vary. I review the published requirements, available calendars, filing instructions, and information supplied by the particular court before advising a driver. Familiarity with local geography and court procedures helps me explain where to go, what to bring, and what to expect. It does not create influence, special treatment, or a promised result. I explain the known options only after reviewing that information.
Georgia Super Speeder Law
Under current Georgia Department of Driver Services guidance, Georgia’s Super Speeder law applies when a driver is convicted of traveling 75 mph or more on a two-lane road or highway, or 85 mph or more on any road or highway in Georgia.
The state assesses a $200 Super Speeder fee in addition to the fines and fees imposed by the court. Failure to pay the state fee within 120 days of official notice can result in suspension of the driver’s license or Georgia driving privileges and an additional reinstatement fee.

I-95 and Out-of-State Drivers
I represent Georgia residents and out-of-state drivers in traffic matters arising in McIntosh, Glynn, and Camden Counties, including citations and charges from Interstate 95. My representation is limited to matters arising in Georgia. Appearance requirements vary by charge and court, so I do not assume that a driver can avoid returning to Georgia until I have reviewed the ticket and the court involved.
For a driver who lives outside Georgia, the first task is to identify the exact court and understand its requirements. I review the address shown on the license, the state that issued it, any CDL status, the alleged speed or conduct, and all notices received after the stop. A Georgia matter may also raise questions about employment, insurance, or a license issued by another state. I explain the Georgia case and avoid assumptions about decisions made by another state or agency.
What to Send
Before requesting a personal review, have the following information ready:
- A clear photograph of every side of the citation
- The alleged speed and charge
- The court and court date
- The state that issued the driver’s license
- Whether the driver holds a CDL
- Any notice or deadline received
- Whether an accident or arrest occurred
- A telephone number where you can be reached
If the matter followed an arrest, also have the bond paperwork, temporary permit, DDS form, and any separate court notice ready. Do not send original documents, Social Security numbers, financial information, detailed confidential communications, or other highly sensitive material through the website. The initial request should include only enough information to identify the matter. Keep the original documents in a safe place and bring them when the office asks for a complete review.
